Applied Systems, Inc., was founded with the 1980-83 development phase of The Agency Manager® (TAM), a groundbreaking system that set out to automate the labor-intensive daily functions of the independent insurance agency and brokerage. The industry embraced TAM after its 1983 introduction. Since then, Applied Systems has continued to set the pace for innovation and leadership in the insurance technology industry.

Today, 126,000 users from more than 11,000 agencies and brokerages conduct business using Applied Systems agency management systems and related products. Nearly 300 of the largest brokers and other financial institutions with insurance operations use Applied Systems products to automate their affiliated insurance agencies. Applied Systems user agencies write 25 percent of all insurance premiums in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Guam, Hong Kong, Jamaica, and the Virgin Islands.

Dedicated development teams employ the most innovative technology to ensure that product features and functionality continue to satisfy the ever-evolving needs of agencies, brokerages, and insureds. Applied Systems automates insurance transactions at every distribution level from consumer through carrier. To enhance product offerings, Applied Systems provides technical support and strategic services for agencies and brokerages seamlessly integrate with insurance carriers and others they deal with daily. Applied Systems offers the services of a professional, experienced team of consultant, product managers, client relationship managers, and project managers who help customers maximize their return on technology investments. In addition, Applied Systems offers comprehensive web- and computer-based training and prompt, reliable technical support.Applied Systems operates from a position of financial strength, stability, and experience. The company is owned by Bain Capital LLC and James P. Kellner, the company's chief executive officer and chairman of the board. Mr. Kellner began working at Applied Systems in 1985 and has devoted his entire career to the continuing development of insurance technology. Nearly 700 Applied Systems employees work out of company headquarters in University Park, Illinois and Applied Systems Canada office in Mississauga, Ontario. In addition, trainers and sales consultants operate regionally.

(ASCnet), the international independent user group that promotes successful insurance automation and business practices through communication, education, and advocacy. Formed shortly after Applied Systems was founded, ASCnet has established extensive representation and a dynamic presence to become an authoritative voice in the insurance industry.
